Pearl Set

Thinking of getting a gift for someone special? A pearl set would be the ideal one topping the list. A good quality pearl set is radiant and shines in its entire splendor. A pearl set includes a pearl necklace and pearl earrings. Some sets include pearl ring and pearl bracelet too.

Pearls are gifts of the seas. There are many types of pearls available these days which vary in shape, color and size. There are four standard types of pearls available in the market. They are the freshwater, Tahitian, South Sea pearls and Akoya. Freshwater pearls are artificially cultured by introducing a foreign body into the shell of an oyster. These are sometimes asymmetrical and white in color with very less luster. The saltwater pearls are Akoya pearls. White in color with rose undertones these are beautiful and large. South sea pearls are expensive, white, silver and huge. The Tahitian pearls are black in color with green and pink undertones and have high luster. These are very expensive due to lack of availability and comparatively smaller culture farms.

Pearl sets should be bought with caution. Always ensure that the pearl used for jewelry is of premium quality. Size and color of pearl is a personal choice but choosing of a pearl set should be done after taking some more factors into consideration. The style of necklace in the set is of prime importance. They come as chokers, princess, matinee, opera and rope. The length of the pearl string varies in each and these are specifically used for appropriate occasions, be it weddings, business or casual meetings. Thus the purpose of purchase gains importance. Similarly the style of earrings also has to be considered while buying pearls sets. The style should match the shape of your face as well as complement the necklace. Pearl earrings come in many styles like studs, chandeliers, hoops, danglers, clip-ons and drops.

Divers had to have the stamina to dive up to 100 feet in one breath in search of oysters.
